Traumatic Invalidation

Summary:

This study looks at the effects of invalidation on the development of psychopathology symptoms for survivors of trauma. For this study, we are developing a measure based on Marsh Linehan’s (1997) six levels of validation. The study will seek to gain a more in depth look at what types of invalidation are most harmful for survivors of trauma, as well as how teaching validation practices to loved ones could alter disclosure experiences.
