About Me:

Marcus Rodriguez, PhD, is Assistant Professor of Psychology at Pitzer College and director of clinical outreach at the Boston Child Study Center—Los Angeles (BCSC-LA). He was born in California, grew up in Mexico, studied in Germany during college, lived in China for 9 years after college, and has visited more than 70 countries. As a clinician, Dr. Rodriguez specializes in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and has experience providing various evidence based therapies in English, Spanish and Mandarin to adults, families and adolescents in inpatient, outpatient and partial hospital settings. He has provided DBT training for mental health professionals in Australia, China, Mexico, Nepal and throughout the United States. As a scholar, Dr. Rodriguez’s research centers around mindfulness, emotion regulation and peer-counseling, with the aim of developing innovative ways to increase access to mental health care. He also enjoys writing children’s books about emotions and diversity.
